Bobbi with an "I"...Phil Vassar
Bobbi with an "I"...Phil Vassar
Life's too short to not be enjoyed! Live each day to the fullest!
Bobby's girl or "pretty little Claudette"
While it might not exactly fit each's own life, this one explains a lot about life in general. The advice given, 'Never wait, or hesitate, get in, kid, before it's too late, you may never get another chance', seems good advice, especially to anyone who's troubled, trying to make a decision about something.
Here's Rod Stewart with the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95zxtaKQBBc
Rod's 'The Killing of Georgie'. I think it was 1976.
Some causes of crossdressing you've probably never even considered: My TG biography at:http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/...=1#post1490560
There's an addendum at post # 82 on that thread, too. It's about a ten minute read.
Why don't we understand our desire to dress, behave and feel like a girl? Because from childhood, boys are told that the worst possible thing we can be, is a sissy. This feeling is so ingrained into our psyche, that we will suppress any thoughts that connect us to being or wanting to be feminine, even to the point of creating separate personalities to assign those female feelings into.
Parts of songs:
"I Can't Tell You Why" & "One Of These Nights" - Eagles.
"Every time I try to walk away,"
"Something makes me turn around and stay."
"And I can't tell you why."
. . .
"The full moon is calling, the fever is high,"
"and the wicked wind whispers and moans."
"You've got your demons, and you've got desires,"
"Well, I got a few of my own.."
"..I've been searching for the daughter of the devil himself,"
"I've been searching for an angel in white"
"I've been waiting for a woman who's a little of both"
"And I can feel her, but she's nowhere in sight."
I would like to add here (as my partner and I both love music), that I told him/her just the other day that his cd'ing gives a whole new meaning to 'Underneath Your Clothes' by Shakira. (regarding his underdressing) His response... "My hips don't lie" with a wink. We are both enjoying this new chapter of our journey. -g
"Coming Around Again" - Carly Simon
I know nothin' stays the same
But if you're willin' to play the game
It's comin' around again
So don't mind if I fall apart
There's more room in a broken heart
I often associate the chorus to Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls with cross-dressing
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's meant to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
Some other songs not already mentioned:
Androgyny by Garbage - Boys in the girl's room, Girls in the men's room, You free your mind in your androgyny
American Girls by Counting Crows - I'm goin' through my closets, tryin' on her clothes almost everyday
King for a Day by Green Day - King for a day, princess by dawn
The last one IS very much a song about crossdressing.
The song that made me come out to my brother (the last person I had to come out to) was "Quiet" by MILCK. I heard it on Samantha Bee's show after the Woman's March on Washington. It's not about gender, but the chorus got into me and made me realize that if I was invisible, it was because I was being silent:
"But no one knows me no one ever will
if I don't say something, if I just lie still
Would I be that monster, scare them all away
If I let the-em hear what I have to say
I can't keep quiet, no oh oh oh oh oh oh
I can't keep quiet, no oh oh oh oh oh oh
A one woman riot, oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
I can't keep quiet
For anyone
Anymore"
It can still get me out the door on days that I'm feeling too delicate (cough, cough) to face a cruel world. After listening to it, I go out the door like a torpedo leaves a tube.
The version performed live on Samantha Bee was awesome (https://youtu.be/V9lond4SXgk ) The version that got turned into a music video not so much.
I am not a woman; I don't want to be a woman; I don't want to be mistaken for a woman.
I am not a man; I don't want to be a man; I don't want to be mistaken for a man.
I am a transgender person. And I'm still figuring out what that means.
I forgot all about this one, also from long ago, which at the time, explained what I was going through quite well. Billy Joel's 'The Stranger'.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6yQ14TGB8U
Well we all have a face
That we hide away forever
And we take them out and
Show ourselves
When everyone has gone
Some are satin some are steel
Some are silk and some are leather
They're the faces of the stranger
But we love to try them on
and at the end,
You may never understand
How the stranger is inspired
But he isn't always evil
And he is not always wrong
Though you drown in good intentions
You will never quench the fire
You'll give in to your desire
When the stranger comes along
That says it all, doesn't it?

“I’ve got you under my skin”. Four Seasons and also Frank Sinatra
The song Leslie Ann Levine by the Decemberists. It was one of the first songs I heard by them and I fell in love with singing, "My name is Leslie Ann Levine," of course the song is morbid. I looked up the song on youtube and a very well made amateur music video with a really cute girl performing in different costumes and a very similar looking guy, I realized eventually they were the same person and it occurred to me why I had connected with the song so much.
Two more songs that quickly pop into my mind. "All dolled up in Straps" by the National. "Pink Rabbits" also by the National.
I've been a huge counting crows fan my whole life and the song, "Round Here," connected with me. Later he released "I Wish I Was a Girl" which actually has a slightly different meaning, but still... The last album they did has the amazing Palasades Park about a Crossdresser who gets lost in the wilderness of New York. If you haven't seen the video you should look it up!
Abracadabra - Steve Miller - the lyric: "Black Panties and an Angel's face" I always wanted to wear those black panties..
Who are you by the who
Sometimes I like to dress as Linda Leigh

I told about this song in another thread. Great theme for crossdressers.

I love myself in curves!
The Goo Goo Dolls , Iris, and The Stranger by Billy Joel, as a couple of other people have mentioned.
My CD journey is like a ....
Train to Nowhere - Savoy Brown
You can catch it if you want to ride
Don't you worry if it pass you by
You can catch it if you want to ride
Don't you worry if it pass you by
Lord you know the reason why
On this train till I die
Train I ride goes to God knows where
I don't know and I don't care
Train I ride goes to God knows where
I don't know and I don't care
If you ain't got money don't despair
'Cause you don't have to pay no fare
Please now brother don't you ride this train
Ride the wrong rails, live your life in vain
Please now brother don't you ride this train
Ride the wrong rails, live your life in vain
Not so much the songs...well, maybe except for Karma Chameleon...but certainly the singer: Boy George.
In that same vein, remember these album covers by Poison and Adam Lambert ?:
I am a Rock Simon and Garfunkel
I've built walls
A fortress deep and mighty
That none may penetrate
I have no need of friendship, friendship causes pain
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain
Emma By Hot Chocolate.
It was cold and dark December night
When I opened the bedroom door
To find her lying still and cold up on the bed
A love letter lying on the bedroom floor
It read, "Darling, I love you.
But I just can't keep on living on dreams no more.
I tried so very hard not to leave you alone.
I just can't keep on tryin' no more."
In solitude where we are least alone. Byron
Speaking of Simon and Garfunkel......
"The 59th Street Bridge Song"
....For times when I'm in a great mood.
Some times......

Your never wrong if you do the right thing
Aretha Franklin - You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman - What I feel like whenever I first simply put on a pair of panties
Yes!
They have all been mentioned in the replies here, I have none to add now. :-)
Work on your elegance,
and beauty will follow.
The Winner Takes It All - ABBA
The Day Before You Came - ABBA
