Just wondering how many of us are trapped in doors like me?
I have been out when I was younger. The usual long walks in the dark fancy
dress Idid once throw caution to the wind and went to the local shop
during the day but no one seamed to notice. If they did nothing was said.

We are only "trapped" as you say by choice Daizy. Our attitude towards who we are and what we want to accomplish is what "drives" us to do things. It's not the question of throwing caution to the wind, it's a question our confidence level. If we are confident in our own abilities and self image nothing is unattainable. In that respect, we are the same basic person whether we wear a dress or not. It depends on what our needs are and how important they are to us. Don't hold you breath waiting to be "accepted" by others, just be yourself, it's much easier really.Kay Richards
I have been out to dinners with members of tri-ess a few times and out with my wife several times to Casinos in Vegas. I have never had any problems.
As I have wrote about several times, I get out about once every two to three months. I spend time at my favorite salon getting my hair done, then usually shop at the mall after that. This is during the day time but have also been to the mall in the evening. I try and dress as a GG would and have had no problems other than teenage girls. The trips have been a wonderful experience, the onlt problem is getting past my neighbors on the return trip home.

Ive been out ONCE---for a halloween party in 2004.
But I realized that I have the attitude that my CDing is something I do in PRIVATE. -----A PERSONAL thing. And I would no more consider going out dressed in public than going out NAKED. Its not a "fear" in my case, but simply an "attitude" in my Psyche that CDing is, for me, one of those "private things" we may do when we are alone. In the same category as taking a bath, using the toilet, or "pleasuring" one's self.
I dont think that this is the same thing as "being in the closet"---In that case the CDer WANTS to go out, but is afraid to, In MY case I see it as a PRIVATE matter where going out is not approprate.
Since getting involved in this forum, I have discovered that way too any gurlz are deep in the closet. I am not advocating walking down the main street of small town USA on a Saturday afternoon dressed. However, I strongly urge gurlz to join a CD support group. In the USA, the best big examples are Tri-Ess at: http://www.tri-ess.org/ or Renaissance Trangender Association at: http://www.ren.org/page2.html In the UK, there is the Beaumont Society at: http://www.beaumontsociety.org.uk/ [SIZE="4"]You can get dressed at a Tri-Ess meeting![/SIZE] There are plenty of smaller, independent groups. I think those closeted gurlz reading this need realtime contacts w/other CDs on a regular basis. I do go out quite a bit. I am a member of Tri-Ess and go to Tiffany's parties at Triangles in Danbury, CT.

I've been out a few times in the last few months. I'm either very brave, giggle, or crazy, but I almost always go out in the daytime. I also go to some of the same places in drab and dressed.
Just being myself at the moment.
Haven't been out in several months because of family issues, but the holiday season is here now and being out and about is such a thrill !!! I feel a shopping trip coming on.

I'm not sure if this counts or not. I have been out a few times, but only to T-friendly clubs at night. And always with other girls. But each time I was fully dressed. I don't have the courage or the wardrobe yet for daytime ventures. Maybe one day.

I usually go out 2-3 times a month--mainly to clubs and bars(even though I don't drink). Sometimes will go shopping at the local mall or various department stores in the area.

Funny that I just now saw this. Leaving in a few minutes to go shopping. It's so much fun spending money on myself. It's all daylight for me because of some night time problems.

I've been out multiple times... usually with my wife (she's the greatest). I/ve had the pleasure of meeting several members of the forum here and also many of their wives/SO's as well. I find these relationships incredibly rewarding but, for those of you still closeted for whatever reason, remember, most oif those relationships began right here! If you haven't been out, if the opportunity ever presents itself, I do recommend it.

Yes Been out a few times. Dinner, Shopping, Walks, Jogging. But one of the best times was on a sunday afternoon. I went with a gg to an open house for a day spa and tatto parlour in a very small town in Ontario. It was great, over 100 people there from men and women to whole families. Even some moms breast feeding there babies. No trouble at all.
Going out with company is so much more fun than going alone.

Going Out
I've been out a few times. Mostly when traveling far from home, trips to parks or malls. Only people who ever said anything were teenage girls. I have been out a onee time locally. I went to a nice shopping arear one night, no one seemed to notice.
When I first moved here to Dallas, I was staying at my sister's house while the wife was still in WV until the house sold. Durning that period, I started going out in the daylight. That was about four months of bliss. Then the house sold and I got a new job, so my dressing and outings got a lot less. Did get a chance to get dressed up for an intire day earlier this month, attending the Tri-Ess HEF2006. Hoping to be able to attend more Tri-Ess functions starting in January.
I've been out several times - once to a Tri-ESS group, once to a local group, and a few times just "out" - One time I met another CD at a distant town and we went to the mall and had dinner. It was thrilling but we got some snide comments at the restaurant.
The last time was a morning trip to the park with my dog. I dressed appropriately for the occasion in jeans, rainjacket (it was treatening) and flats and with very little makeup. Wouldn't you know it, my dog reacted badly to another dog, causing a scene. Then later a GG with two shelties like mine wanted to know where I got my sheltie. With my masculine voice I just couldn't reply. She was far enough away that I just shrugged and walked on, but she sure did stare at me.
After each outing I wondered, "What on earth was I thinking?" Why would I put myself in a position to be embarassed? Ah, but then there is still that need for Donna to get out. Don't know when it will happen next, but I know it will.

I have been out some a few years ago but not recently. However, my living situation has recently changed, and I may be out some in the near future. It might be nice to meet another CD girl or GG to go with.

I have been out twice in Chicago and 4 times in Bowling Green & Nashville for shopping. Really tried going out in femme in force to malls since I'm temporarily living in another city. Found out I am passable on looks, so I might do it back in Chicago.
I've been trapped at home for more than 45 years...
Recently, several events have made me change my perception about my feminine side and my attitide towards going out.
I'm now enjoying being out in the streets. But beware, its addictive... Once you try it you won't be able to stop from doing it...
I personally feel bad now because I cannot go out when I'm in my home town. It is not for me that I fear, but for my brothers who are publicly well known. They have carriers that would suffer from a publicity around a coming out from my side.
So I can't wait for my next trip to Brussels...
