I had been wanting a cute little black sheer thong with a pink bow in front and thigh high stockings for several years. Not sure how it even became that but it had to be my first purchase. Bought everything in person, not realizing what a feat I had just completed. Ran home, shaved my legs for the first time and tried everything on. I was about 22.

I bought some panties from Soma. I?m married so I assume they saw my ring and figured I was buying for my wife. The big takeaway from the experience for me is that sales staff generally don?t care who is buying, as long as it helps their daily sales. I buy women?s clothes pretty frequently in person while in drab and have ever since that first time.

Soma, is remarkably friendly as a store policy. I shop there all the time (platinum member). They let me try on in either drab or fab mode.

I doubt that, SA’s especially ones who have been around can read us like a book. You went to the right store to shop but beleive me they figured they were for you.

Could be. It was my first time so maybe I was a bit naive. These days I think it?s pretty obvious when I?m shopping that it?s for me and no one really seems to care.

At 64 do not remember the 1st purchase but the one that stands out was in the mid 1970’s and placed an order at Sears back then it was by phone. I was at college and decided I needed my first set of forms back then they were foam and c cup, order a full body brief, a few more panties.

I picked up the order at Sears. Was a thrill to have my 1st foam forms and 1st full body brief.

I remember going to zellers to bye panties. was nervous at the cashier . the clerk lady said that will look good on you and she looked pissed.

I found thrift stores had more choice and less worry of bad service .
Wanting something is a fantasy which on a long time period clouds your mind and makes you think you need it.

Oh I had a boring as hell office job in my early 20s where I spent hours looking at hosiery on eBay, building lists and then finally getting some black sheer thigh-highs shipped. I was SO THRILLED when they arrived I tore through the packaging and jammed them on only to be confronted with the reality that 'One-Size Fits-All' for women absolutely did NOT apply to tall athletic male frames !! They had runs almost immediately but the rush of even buying them was still totally worth it! Years later and much internet purchase-savviness accumulated, I'm totally spoiled by the number of resources for good quality women's clothes and CD-specific pieces that I have access to. If I had any real gumption, I'd have become a seamstress... maybe someday!

The first women?s outerwear ( except for bra?s) was 2 women?s blazers black and green because they fit better than a man?s. I wore them for several years and no one ever noticed.

In my late teens, when I had a few weeks wages under my belt from my first job, I went a bit mad. It was approaching Christmas and I thought that that was a good excuse to be buying clothes for my imaginary girlfriend. So off I went to my local shopping centre and bought a short black n white pleated tartan skirt, a black party dress and a red one, two sets of bra/panties/suspenders (one practical and one sexy), black hold-ups and a few pairs of skimpy knickers and finally a pair of shoes. All from different shops. The only person that gave me funny looks, that I noticed, was a young girl (of about 8 who was with her mum) who starred at me in a shocked and bemused way as I browsed through various thongs and g-strings. So there I was walking down the high street on my way to the bus stop with all these bags like some Sloane Ranger. To anyone that knew me, this would have seemed quite extraordinary behaviour as I was possibly the shyest person to ever walk the Earth. But buying all these girls clothes didn't seem to faze me at all. I enjoyed it and felt quite confident and natural doing it. I felt far more relaxed than when buying guy clothes. It was a good Christmas.

Stevie.

Christmas is great time for shopping.

Just by whatever you desire. It is all for presents.

- - - Updated - - -

First item was cheap red bodysuit, around 12-15 years a go.

Top bad it was 4 inches too short.

That was one-time purchase till recently.

Panties, in college. I was still super nervous about buying anything, so I went to a part of town where no one wpuld know me. I think it was a Big Lots.

It was a one piece swimsuit. Can't remember what it looked like. I bought it when self check out was a new thing. I remember being nervous as hell. When I got back in the car I looked in the mirror and my ears and neck were red like a sunburn.

I was around 17 this was about 10 years ago, I bought a pair of used leather knee high boots with stiletto heels from a thrift store. Lady/owner treated me very nicely at the register. Years later when I got had a large wardrobe, I came back fully dressed and donated them back to the same owner.

It was around 1984, I was traveling the US with a band so I didn't have to worry about running into anyone I knew while shopping. I picked up a bra and panty set at Penneys IIRC and I also bought a men's flannel shirt in order to be less conspicuous. I wish I still had that bra/panty set. It was hot! Can't remember what town it was, but it was probably in Iowa?

I was 16 and with my first paycheck, I went to Goldblatts drygoods store as I did with my Mother many times.
I looked around the juniors section and spotted these pretty Easter dresses in pastel colors.
They came with lace gloves in matching colors and were lined in a satin fabric.
And there it was...size12 beautiful powder blue, this is so exciting!
I skipped with dress in hand to the nylon area for two pairs of Leggs (pantyhose)...they came in a egg shaped containers.
No big deal paying for purchases for girls stuff as I was with Mom many times in this department.
I did get a curious look from the cashier, this 16 yrs old long hair buying a Easter dress, she asked me something and I just said yes and nodded.
I was totally in the pink fog, paid cash for my purchase, got a special handled hanging bag (surprise!) and couldn't wait to get home!
I was a little loose in the hips but I filled the darts with the cups of the longline....It looked so fancy...looking in the mirror I thought, is that me?
Still wish I had that dress, wore it many time as Mom would allow me to dress up when Dad was away from work.

Late bloomer here. I was mid forties and was in charge of a charity tag sale. I was alone the night before and on a whim picked out several items. Paid for them that night and took them home. A nightgown, a couple of dresses and some bandeau tops. I actually never did more than try them on.
In my sixties, I talked to my wife about wanting to dress for a special party. I had done research on sizes and had a pretty good guess for myself. I went to Alibaba (prices I could afford) and ordered a maroon dress with lace top, body briefer, thigh highs and 3" black heels. My wife suggested block heels rather than stiletto. Smart lady. I also ordered a matching dress for her. Being overseas, this company takes a long time to deliver. While waiting, my wife suggested we go to Walmart and buy me a bra. I was nervous when we started looking for the right size, but before we found it, I was feeling almost at ease. On the way out, she stopped at a panty display and picked out a maroon pair for me. We then went across the street to Goodwill and found one dress the right size. Not the best looking thing, but it is comfortable. The dress and all eventually arrived and fit pretty well, though a bit shorter than expected. Unfortunately, the party never came about before the Covid shut-in.

My first job was working in London a short walk from SoHo. After walking over a couple of times, I plucked up the courage to go into one of the shops there. After a quick browse I grabbed something in my favourite colour. A matching bra and panty. Took them to the counter to purchase and remember the SA saying "You know these are different sizes?". I just acknowledged, paid and hurried back into the anonymity of the street.

Bonus first time: That was nearly 20 years ago, further purchases had been made online.
More recently after laying dormant for a while I have returned to the CD world, and plucked up the courage to go buy something in person. I had gone to the shops early on a weekday. Went in my target shop, browsed around the lingerie section, grabbed another Bra and Panty set. Then spent ages looking for the hosiery section and then searching through for some stockings. They didn't have what I wanted so i gave up and paid for the set. Friendly GG SA didn't bat an eyelid.
I then crossed over to another store and looked through the hosiery section. Again no stockings but at least a pair of hold ups. I grabbed them and headed to the tills. Again nice, friendly GG not phased at all. Both purchases made in cash, both my heart pounding in my chest.

The first item I bought was a pair of Keds tennis shoes. This was probably 20 years ago or so. I was at a Target, if I remember correctly, and bought them on impulse. It was close to Halloween. I had a story in place by the time I got through with the rest of my shopping and checked out. Nothing untoward happened, but I'm sure I was shaking like a leaf. I imagine most of the Americans on the board are familiar with Keds. They're a simple, canvas tennis shoe. They were very popular with the girls I knew in high school, so had always held a place of importance for my femme side.

Since then, I think a couple of pairs of hose at drugstores were the only in-person purchases. My only proper "shopping trip" was with a GG friend a few years ago. We went to a huge thrift store and I went a bit overboard. Luckily, she was nearly the same size as me, so it wasn't too obvious what was going on - or so I told myself.

I'm a late bloomer and didn't start dressing or shopping for dresses until I was an adult. My first women's clothing purchase was a set of lace panties in various colors. That was online, so not much of a challenge. The first thing I bought for Vivian out in the real world was some costume jewelry plus a pretty summer straw hat (which was on sale and totally an impulse buy). By that time I was comfortable with the idea of shopping for women's things and neither I nor the shop clerk lady batted an eyelash over it.

My very first purchase was a pair of sheer black pantyhose.
It was so nerve wracking. First standing there reading the package trying to decide what size to buy, then trying to decide what style. Lastly actually presenting it to the cashier and having to pay for it.
